Well, here we are in the second half of January, and I have yet to share specifics on my plans for the year. One reason is that life is moving along at a very rapid pace. Work is hectic as we’re putting together the pieces for several key initiatives. And my home schedule is a lot busier than I was expecting.
On January 1st, I cast on a blanket that will be a baby gift for a friend. Her due date was this past Monday. No word yet as to whether the little one has arrived, but I knew when I started that the finished product would be late. Such is life for me, not seems. Yesterday, I reached the 40% mark, so I still think I can make my self-imposed deadline (Super Bowl Sunday), but it will be tight!

In addition to all the goings-on in my schedule, complications are constantly arising. This week it was my garage door opener. It simply stopped working. Of course, I haven’t had time to address this yet, but I plan to reach out to a company tomorrow to schedule a service call. Other calls are outstanding… I currently have issues with my furnace, water heater, AND refrigerator! Seriously, I don’t think there’s a system in my house that hasn’t become problematic in the past six months!
Even so, I have been making attempts to achieve my primary goals for the year: more out than in concerning things (mainly yarn and clothing) and more money in than out.
I reviewed my various subscriptions (streaming services, mobile apps, etc.) and canceled several that I haven’t been using routinely or that aren’t worth what I pay, in my opinion. That was a pretty easy task, though I was surprised by a couple of charges I wasn’t expecting. For those, I’ve made a note in my Todoist app to cancel next year before the renewal dates.
My final big goal for the year, carrying over from 2021, involves my fitness. I am still working on quantifying the specific targets for the year. But, in preparation, I have signed up for the Transformation Challenge at OrangeTheory, which begins January 31st. This challenge provides a couple of measurement opportunities using their InBody Scan tool, bracketing eight weeks. There are prizes awarded to the man and woman who lose the most significant percentage of body fat based on their scans. While I would like to claim one of those prizes, the real win will be continuing my journey toward a healthier lifestyle.
I plan to use my Self Journal (by BestSelf) to plot my specific goals here and track them. As long as I can get that put together this month, I will be ready to win the year.
Knit on.
