At long last, here is my first full podcast episode! I hope you enjoy what I have to share.
Stitched or Still-in-Progress; I’ve reflected on my knitting accomplishments from July along with my WIPs. All of these are included in my Year of Projects weekly posts, but in this episode I talk about the following (note: project links are to Ravelry; check my latest YOP post for project details and pictures of these items):
- Bling Bag by Laura Nelkin, the July pattern in the 2024 Lola’s Choice Club.
- Laurelie shawl by Lisa Hannes, my 600+ yard project for Camp Loopy
- SHaGS socks by Sarah Jordan, my July project for the Tenth (and final) Annual Desert Vista Dyeworks Monthly Sock Club
- Byrne Clan Aran pullover by Clanarans, the first of several sweaters on my list to knit with yarn I bought during my visit to Ireland in April
- Nugget Peds by Laura Nelkin, a shortie sock pair I started when Laura was hosting a Facebook KAL
Cast On Conversations: new projects for August!

Grandson Glimpses:
- Portrait sitting at JC Penney Portrait Studio

- Columbus Zoo & Aquarium is hosting a Chinese lantern festival throughout the zoo. This exhibit runs through late September. Zayne and I arrived along with a rainstorm, so our visit was brief. We did watch some demonstrations by a local Kung Fu school, as they were in a sheltered pavilion.

- When the podcast goes live, I will be sitting with my grandson, my son, and the rest of his family, watching monster trucks at the Hartford County Fair!
Exploits in Exercise:
- Joggo – I signed up for this app on July 1, and I was able to walk 26.5 miles during the month to earn a refund of my subscription fee. I’m still evaluating the program as it hopefully helps me progress towards running.
- The XXXIII Olympic Games are still ongoing, and I’ve been watching a lot of the events (mostly via replay on YouTube TV).
Movie Moments:
- I’m an AMC A-List member which allows me to see three movies every week for a great monthly subscription fee! I love this program, and it’s helped me make great progress towards my goal of seeing 50 movies in the theater during the year.
- As of July 31, I’ve seen 44 movies. And in July, this total included: Thelma, The Bikeriders, Furiosa, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1, Daddio, Deadpool & Wolverine and Twisters
- On the small screen, I caught up on Bridgerton, have only two episodes left to finish another rewatch of The West Wing series, continuing a watchalong of Jessica Jones with YouTuber Kaiielle, making my way through season four of All American, the CW drama series available on Netflix (inspired by American football player Spencer Paysinger, who is also a co-producer of the series and has appeared as an assistant football coach in the series.
Bookish Banter:
- Spare by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex (audiobook)
- The Queen: Her Life by Andrew Morton
- The Seat Filler: A Novel by Sariah Wilson
- Kindle hosts challenges every calendar quarter – As of August 6th, I’ve read on my Kindle or one of my iDevices for 282 days in a row, and my current week-streak is at 139 weeks. I’ve been consistent throughout 2024, and my current daily streak started back on October 30.
Soundscape Sessions:
- Podcast- I’m excited that I hit ten downloads in less than a week!
- Gahanna Community Chorus – we are performing at the 175th Gahanna Jubilee on August 10.
Random Ramblings:
- A friend hired me to pet sit for her two dogs and a cat; the gig was cut short by Hurricane Debby, as Hilton Head Island was evacuated due to the flooding.
