February Progress Update

Another #MarkItMonday and a new week in the #YearOfProjects – I started making a list of the projects I want to make this year. I do need to assess my stash situation, as I believe I have a couple sweater quantities of yarn, maybe more. But here’s where I am after another week of knitting.

I finished the “other” pair of socks I shared last week.

SHaGs pattern by Sarah Jordan using Fibernymph Dye Works Bounce in the Grab Your Flannelcolorway on US1.5 (2.50mm) needles

And I finished the hat I had started in January, completed on the 31st to meet the deadline!

Mock Cable Hat by Kay Hopkins in Bugbear Woolens sock yarn in the Pop Rocks colorway, on US4 (3.5mm) and US5 (3.75mm) needles

I also finished the first sleeve for my current sweater WIP, and started the second sleeve.

Bling T (long sleeve version) by Laura Nelkin using Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stopper in Don’t Fear the Reaper on US4 (3.5mm) needles

I knit up the second wedge of a circular shawl/blanket. This features a colorway I knit with before.

Lolette by Laura Nelkin using the Unwind Yarn Company 2019 Advent Set (fingering weight) on US5 (3.75mm) needles

Having finished projects, that means I could start some more. As a part of the Laura Nelkin Q1 KAL, I knit up a dishcloth pattern. I’m planning to crochet a loop to put the ends to use, and I will be knitting a larger version this week.

Starola by Laura Nelkin in an unknown cotton worsted yarn, on US4 (3.5mm) needles

A new month means a new Desert Vista Dyeworks sock!

SHaGs pattern by Sarah Jordan using Desert Vista Dyeworks Viso in the Gradient Gourds colorway on US1 (2.25mm) needles

And my last cast on is going to take a little while to finish. Similar to the Musselburgh hat by Ysolda Teague, this one starts at the crown in the round then creates a long tube followed by decreases to form a duplicate crown so the whole piece can be folded in and doubled up.

Same As It Ever Was by Sarah Jordan using Fibernymph Dye Works Bounce in the All Things Green and Gold colorway on US1.5 (2.5mm) needles

I have a busy week as usual with choir rehearsals, movies, a haircut appointment, and a board meeting to lead (preparing for that today). Oh, and my grandson should be visiting on Friday. Plus Orangetheory classes – I’m putting in a lot of effort into this year’s Transformation Challenge, though three classes or more a week is my usual schedule. I’m tracking my macros, upping my water intake AND doing much better at getting my steps in. The walking pad in my living room helps with that last one! Last week I put a ton of effort into my three workouts. On Friday, my arms were still very sore from Wednesday’s strength class!

Friday was a Tread 50 class in which I hit a couple PRs! I hadn’t reached 2.5 miles before, nor had I managed to jog for more than two minutes previously.

Back to my knitting now…

Knit on. 🧶

Wow, you are one busy lady!!! Congrats on meeting our fitness goals. So glad you shared Desert Vista as a source for self striping sock yarn!! I much prefer the self striping yarns of indie dyers to the mass produced ones out of Europe. Both socks look great. No surprise I love your hat yarn – haha. How fun it would be to wear.

Lovely socks and such fun colors! I’ll have to check out that hat pattern. I love the Musselburgh and would gladly knit 100 of those but it’s nice to have options too. 🙂

I do love striped socks, they practically knit themselves. The dishcloth is pretty enough to just be a decoration. Well done on surpassing your previous PBs and working on these changes. Sounds like the scheme is giving you good motivation, I could do with a pinch of that myself lol.
