Super Bowl Monday Check-in

Yawn. I didn’t watch the end of the game yesterday (Super Bowl LVIII) because once regulation time expired and overtime was on deck, I recognized that I needed to wind down for bed. One of my health checks this year is focused on improved sleep, mostly based on data from my Oura ring and its accompanying app; one of the factors used in calculating my scores is how long it takes me to fall asleep (latency). If I’m too riled up when I crawl into bed, it can take 45 minutes or longer to drift off.

While I didn’t have a clear favorite team playing this year, I root for former Ohio State Buckeyes on the field. San Francisco has two on their roster (to KC’s goose egg), so I was cheering for Nick Bosa and Chase Young. Both players had some standout moments- my favorite being Chase’s QB sack in the first quarter.

As usual, the primary reason I love watching NFL games is to provide a soundtrack to my knitting. Yesterday was no exception. Initially, I was chugging along on the second sock in my February pair of Desert Vista Dyeworks socks. I snapped a photo in the afternoon before heading to my monthly board meeting, and then the sock was my key focus when I got home. Midway through the second quarter, I faced the reality that I wouldn’t be finishing before the end of the weekend.

Progress as of Sunday afternoon (left) and the official Mark It Monday photo of this month’s Desert Vista Dyeworks socks. Hoping to turn the heel by the end of the day today, and finish the sock by Wednesday.

When I spun off to break from the sock knitting, I picked up the Wedge of the Week for my Lolette shawl. It needed fifteen more rows to complete. This was definitely my halftime show knitting as well as during parts of Q2 and Q3. Three down, five to go, before I progress towards putting them all together!

Throughout the week I have dabbled a little bit in sweater knitting, though I will be ramping up the effort once the DVD socks are finished. The KALs I’m knitting it for end on March 31, so wish me luck!

I did complete one project, earning me a few more points in the Down Cellar Studio Pigskin Party craft-along. Because that challenge awards yardage used, I made two dishcloths from one pattern, a small and a large size.

And lastly, I cast on one more project during the week! The finished product will be an eyeglass fob or tether, so maybe I will look cool wearing my readers with the sparkly accessory. I also ordered a second kit from the designer, as this one came in an Advent Calendar surprise pack. Not a great picture, but I will try better next time!

That’s my progress for last week. My lunch break is half over and I’m feeling drowsy, so I’ll sign off now and address that! I should have time for a midweek share as I have an extended long weekend coming up!

Knit on. 🧶

Fun socks and I love the Reaper yarn – that’s going to be a great wardrobe addition. We toddled off to bed about halfway thru OT last night too. I don’t do well with less than adequate sleep anymore.

I was still awake when the game ended, but I was reading calmly. I saw the news blurbs following the two scores. Shortly after that I put everything away to go to sleep. 😊
