Thinking about mulling over fixing to plan to do something new…

I had been pondering this post a week ago, but then life got hectic and I wasn’t able to put my thoughts down. The thinking didn’t stop though. So here we go.

I am contemplating launching a podcast to complement my blog. When I’m in my car to go places, whether a five minute or twenty minute drive, I listen to podcasts. I love hearing about what other people are up to and thinking about, and that includes knitterly folks. I’ve gained some lovely friendships through listening to podcasts, too. And the final “selling point” for me was recognizing that there aren’t likely going to be further opportunities for me in stage performances, generally speaking. So this gives me an artistic avenue to fill that gap.

Another nudge down this road came about recently when I began investigating the field of voice overs and narration. And my radio-personality friend was quite encouraging, even saying that I have a pleasant speaking voice. That wasn’t the first time I heard that compliment, either. So, I have the basic tools to put this idea into action.

Next is developing the format concept. Maintaining my Kninja Knitter persona, the fiber-enthusiast topic would remain central. But as with my blog, it needn’t be my only content. After all, I enjoy so many things beyond my knitting and rare spinning adventures.

There you have it. I’m making this one of my goals for 2024, to launch a podcast. Thanks to the Year of Projects, I’ve gained consistency in blogging weekly. Since I have a lot of prep work to do to put my format together, I think I’ll start with a monthly podcast. I know plenty of others who manage bimonthly or biweekly schedules, but I feel like that would be overwhelming to start with.

Stay tuned for more updates as I collect my thoughts and plans on this project. I’m going to reach out to one of my podcasting friends for technical information, too.

I’ll leave you with a photo of my Sock Madness qualifying project… I took a photo after completing one chart repeat. I’m close to finishing the second repeat now, with about five more to go (along with the heel flap and turn and gusset shaping) before the toe decreases… fingers crossed that I can make the deadline!
