Challenging week, but I survived.

I’m still recovering from yesterday’s lost hour, but that’s a minor recovery compared to other things from the past week. A week ago today I got both my COVID booster and my second Shingles vaccine. I’m not sure if it was the combination or just one of the shots, but I was down for the count the next day, and my Oura ring reported elevated temperature most of the week.

On Wednesday I received the sad news that my uncle passed away in February. He was in Oregon, though he’d become a snowbird, wintering in New Mexico. I usually spoke to him once or twice a year, always calling him on his birthday in March. He was the older of my dad’s two younger brothers. And sadly, his memorial service is scheduled right before my birthday adventure trip; my internal debate continues, but I’m leaning toward not attending and then traveling out in the summer to pay my respects.

I’m generally an optimistic person, so how about changing the subject to cheery topics, eh? Here are my #MarkItMonday photos of my current WIPs (sans the test knit project).

SHaGs pattern by Sarah Jordan in Desert Vista Dyeworks Viso in the Captain Zombody Marvel colorway on US1 (2.25mm) needles

Seeing Dune 2 gave me a great opportunity to make progress on this sock. I completed 38 rounds of the foot during the trailers and movie! When I got home I knit the next two before bed so I could begin today with the gusset increased.

Bling T (long sleeve version) by Laura Nelkin using Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stopper in Don’t Fear the Reaper on US4 (3.5mm) needles

The Bling T saw a little bit of love, but the test knit shawl for Paper Daisy has taken precedence, slowing down my sweater progress. Still, I have enjoyed growing the body while binge watching The Tudors. And with the arrival of the March kit for Laura Nelkin’s Lola’s Choice program, I may slow down on the Bling T in favor of some quick shortie socks to earn a chance for prizes.

Lolanyard – from the 2023 Lolember kit from Laura Nelkin on US 1 (2.25mm) needles

Lastly, I knit up the second half of my Lolanyard! I have a kit to make a second one, so that might happen soon.

One more challenge for the week and then I’ll leave you with a happy note. On Saturday, I was planning to go to a local community theater to see a comedy starring a guy I know. When I got to my car in the garage, I found I had a flat tire. Wah-wah. Hopefully it’s a quick fix, as the AAA service tech spotted a small nail.

The best part of my week is always time spent with my grandson. This week was no different. But we had extra fun as I scheduled an Easter photo shoot for Z and his sister K. Now that he can walk, boy was he a handful! The photographer did a great job of capturing him despite the flurry of activity. Also, Z loved the Easter Bunny!

Knit on. 🧶

Love the colorful sock yarn and the project bag fabric. Fun knitting. Your photos at Penny’s bring back memories of when I used to get pictures taken of my kids every 3 months. Sadly by the time the third one came along life got too busy and I don’t have many pictures of him.

Sounds like a challenging week, I’m sorry about your uncle, hopefully this one has got better as I’m late posting. I hope you managed to find an alternative way to get to the play. The Lolanyard is great and how lovely to see your face for I think the first time since I’ve been following you. Your grandson looks very cute.
