Phew! A very busy week! Surprise news inside!

Indeed, I had a LOT going on last week. I’m glad this week should be relatively quiet. After the stresses of the month, it’ll be nice to be able to relax for a few days.

March is coming to a close soon, so my month-end goals are looming large! I was able to make great progress over the weekend on all three of my deadline projects. I went to a couple live stage shows which gave me dedicated knitting time. I bound off the first DVD sock during intermission on Sunday. I started on the toe for the second Larch sock shortly afterwards. I also finished the eighth section of the test knit shawl. See below for more on that!

SHaGs pattern by Sarah Jordan in Desert Vista Dyeworks Viso in the Captain Zombody Marvel colorway on US1 (2.25mm) needles
Larch Peds pattern by Laura Nelkin in Spun Right Round Tough Sock in the Graffiti Overlay (MC) and Buggy (CC) colorways on US1 (2.25mm) and US0 (2.0mm) needles

I should be able to cast on and complete a hat for charity this week, too. Laura Nelkin’s Ravelry group hosts a First Quarter KAL that rewards folks who complete four projects within the quarter, each satisfying a specific requirement, with a chance to win a grand prize package. The challenge this year called for:

  • A pattern released in 2023
  • A pattern with beads or a “Lola” design
  • A sweater or socks
  • An item for charity

Oh, I will also share with fellow sock knitters here: the bind-off used in the Larch Peds is called the Finchley Graft. It’s worked with the sock inside out, is slightly easier than what’s commonly called Kitchener, and doesn’t create dog-ear stitches at the sides. That’s a big win in my book!

And now, back to the test knit. Lisa (Paper Daisy Creations) has released this pattern! It’s called Coloring Lines. There’s also a coupon code available if you want to purchase the pattern right away. The pattern is 60% off with code EASYBREEZY through March 27 (EDT)! I am having issues with photos, but hopefully you can see this progress image.

The pattern is designed for a full skein of MC (400 yards) and five 40g mini-skeins of contrast colors (133 yards each), though obviously you can modify as desired. My starting set of five CCs were 30g each, so I had to improvise. Ask questions if you like, and be sure to take advantage of the coupon code if you read this post in time!

Knit on. 🧶

Love the rainbow colors you used in the shawl. I like the toes on the Laura Nelkin Pattern. I’m trying to find a better round toe for toe up socks.

Thank you! That sock pattern is knit top down. But the secret to a rounded toe for toe-up is to work increases every round to start. I’ve usually seen this done for about five rounds before adding the even rounds in between the increases.
