I’m still trying to figure out how the short work week last week took forever. And yet, my schedule was unusually busy. Activities are starting up again, including both choirs I’m involved with. I was also asked to step up the timeline to dog sit for a friend. As a result, I had no opportunity to finalize my podcast content list, let alone record, edit and upload! I’m adjusting things so I can get that done this week. I promise!
And along with everything else, the Down Cellar Studio podcast’s Pigskin Party kicked off on Thursday ahead of the first game between Kansas City and Baltimore. That meant I cast on several new projects to earn all the points. Here are my updates for the week.
Stitched or Still-in-Progress
The Aran sweater is SO close to being done! Last week, I attached the sleeves to the front and back and knit up the collar. All that’s left are the two side seams. I might be able to manage it this week since there’s no Ohio State football game next weekend.

The Lolette shawl saw a lot of love ahead of the Pigskin Party kickoff since I was waiting to cast things on. It helps that it’s just plain knitting around in circles. Based on my spreadsheet and the die-rolled results (the pattern has some options based on the roll of a pair of dice), I’m 55% complete here.

And I picked up the Prairie Fields blanket again. If I can average two rows a day on this, I can be done by the end of the year.

Cast-on Conversations
The first project I started I’m not able to share just yet. It’s a test knit for a designer. When the pattern is released next month, I’ll share. Moving on then to my Desert Vista Dyeworks socks for this month. Because the Pigskin Party (often shortened to PSP) awards bonus points for using sponsor products, I switched up my usual pattern for one that is football related. can you see the oval shapes made with purl stitches?

And lastly is my next Irish sweater, knit with a green tweedy yarn. I was using a kCDesign in knitCompanion, paying for some advanced setup that gives me an easier format that’s specific to my size. It’s not as neat as it would be if I set it up myself. And there are a couple stitch patterns that aren’t shown on the chart. So I had to take some time to make some updates to the chart. As a result, I haven’t made much progress. I’m still excited about making this sweater though! I still need to find buttons, too, but I have some time for that!

I have one more project to cast on relatively soon. I’ve been accepted as a test knitter for another project, this one for Laura Nelkin. I shared in a previous post when I knit her Larch Peds pattern. She has taken this pattern and upsized it to make slippers in a DK weight yarn. Holding fingering weight yarn double gets the same result, and that could earn more points in the PSP, lol. It’s all about the points! 🤩
And with that I will wrap up my post for today. I’m returning home this afternoon after dog sitting for five days. It will be nice to get to sleep through the night tonight!
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, my first. If you would like to find out more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, please check it out; it’s a very welcoming group!
Knit on. 🧶
