Whirlwind Week With One More to Go

Best laid plans…I’d expected to blog more than once a week while on vacation, but it’s been a true whirlwind! I’ve been out and about most of the time. I’m most impressed that I managed more than 104k steps over the seven days from Monday to Sunday, and I only took one OrangeTheory class during that period.

Some highlights of the trip so far include Stonehenge, Buckingham Palace, the Warner Brothers Harry Potter studio tour, seeing Jonny Lee Miller on stage, Tom Riddle’s grave in Edinburgh (the real person who inspired the character), and a bunch of Beatles’ sites. I also finished my Desert Vista Dyeworks socks and made progress on the shawl and hat projects. I started another pair of socks, but I haven’t snagged a progress photo yet.

I’ve visited two yarn shops so far, Loop in London and Ginger Twist Studio. There are two more to come in Dublin tomorrow. And now for the barrage of photos…

Stonehenge – impressive!
Buckingham Palace – the barricades were set up for the London Marathon
The Hogwarts “bigature” is huge!
Jonny Lee Miller starred at the Trafalgar Theatre in a dark comedy that had me laughing a lot.
Before Tom Riddell became Lord Voldemort, he was a real person
The Penny Lane sign!
Same As It Ever Was by Sarah Jordan using Fibernymph Dye Works Bounce in the All Things Green and Gold colorway on US1.5 (2.5mm) needles
Under the Rainbow by Jennifer Tipton using KnitCircus Greatest of Ease in Quoth the Raven and KnitCircus Sock du Soleil in the Neon is the New Black colorway, on US6 (4.0mm) needles.
SHaGs pattern by Sarah Jordan in Desert Vista Dyeworks Viso in the Balderdash colorway on US1 (2.25mm) needles – finished on the train ride from London to Edinburgh

I’m so tickled that I could add four more countries to my “visited” list: England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. And I celebrated my birthday in style. There’s plenty more sites to visit in Ireland this week! I’ll try to share more before the week is over.

Knit on. 🧶

I hadn’t planned to see a show in London until I saw the poster of his play. 😀 I really want to post more about my travels, but I need downtime to make that happen. When I get home I can work on that since we’re out and about every day until I head home.

Sounds like you are having a marvellous time. I used to work in Liverpool for years, so that’s fun you made it there, assuming on your way to Ireland. If you happen to see the Eleanor Rigby bronze statue at the end of Matthew Street then you were pretty close to where I used to work, just a little further up the hill. Anyway, sounds like you are having fun and I hope you’ll share lots of posts about your trip once you have time.
