I am starting this draft on Monday, but thanks to some frustrating challenges with my ISP (Internet Service Provider), the post won’t go live for at least a couple days. When I returned home after a super-long day of travel, I found I couldn’t do anything with my internet connection. Some things worked but very slowly.
I won’t bore you with the details, but this means I can’t stream anything on my television. The best I can do is either watch things on my phone or use my phone’s hotspot to stream on my iPad. Not an ideal situation. Sigh.
Thanks to the delayed departure, of course my arrival at home was also delayed. Fortunately my son was still able to collect me at the airport – and my grandson was there to greet me, too. Yay!

I found out that night that when I left, he cried for the rest of the day/evening. A short car ride with Grandma was not sufficient for him! When we got to my house, I “broke him out” of his car seat so I could get a proper hug and chat. He really wanted to come into my house, but sadly that wasn’t an option. I didn’t have the brain space to accommodate, and I intended to be at church on Sunday morning. The driveway cuddle seemed to be enough, and then I went to visit on Sunday evening. Again, he was ready to hop in my car to come to my house. That plan will have to wait until Friday though.
With another Mark It Monday here, I took progress photos of my WIPs. Here you go:

I made great progress on the lace section of this shawl, completing more than three pattern repeats with less than one repeat to go. The remainder of the shawl repeats the previous sections. It’s written to exactly repeat them, but I plan to reverse the color order. In hindsight, I might have adjusted the lace section similarly. Oh well. Live and learn!

I stopped working on this hat late in the week when I realized I needed to weigh the remaining yarn. As it turned out, I’d surpassed the point when I was supposed to begin the decreases. Rather than ripping back, though, I opted to start on the decreases here, and I’ll dig out a remnant of another colorway in the same base from this dyer (I have a few to choose from, I believe) to use when I deplete this skein. (Follow up note: the hat is finished! I used six grams from a different colorway to complete the decreases. FO picture to come soon!)

Since I finished the DVD socks for April, I wanted another sock project since these are something I don’t need to think much about unless I’m at the heel turn, lol. Fortunately I bought yarn in London that would suit, and this particular skein was sold already caked up. How convenient!
Being back home I am looking forward to getting some rest. The trip was amazing, but it was also exhausting. It takes a few minutes after I wake up to figure out where I am. Once I get my internet issues sorted, I will feel much better. There are other issues to resolve as time permits (e.g., my SUV auto-liftgate function died the day I left) but in general life is very good.
I have nearly 3,000 photos to sort through from the trip to put together a video and a memory book. But again, I have time to do that. For now…
