Year of Projects – Week 3

Again, I’m adjusting my blog posting structure while fine-tuning the upcoming podcast format. (Counting down- TEN days to launch!) And since most of the Year of Projects bloggers post their updates on Sundays, it made sense to shift mine as well. Because I like the #MarkItMonday concept, my approach is to photograph each project after I stop working on it on Sunday. Then I can move the marker before I start knitting on Monday.

Stitched or Still-in-Progress

The cable knit sweater saw a lot of love for having the furthest deadline. As I expected last week, I finished the back and started the front. Today I stopped after completing a full pattern repeat.

My Camp Loopy July project is right on track as well, and as expected, I finished the color work and started the lace section.

Laurelie by Lisa Hannes using Leading Men Fiber Arts Spotlight (BFL/Nylon) in Darkest Hour and Drama Queen on US4 (3.5mm) and US5 (3.75mm) needles

This month’s Desert Vista Dyeworks socks are coming along…today I finished the first sock and completed the toe on the second. They won’t be an exact match, but they should be close.

And my last project of the week is the other pair of socks. During the week I knit the heel and got through the gusset decreases. My goal was to get the sock to the point where it can be movie knitting when needed, though the DVD socks have the more stringent deadline.

During the upcoming week I’ll share a few more tidbits from the week. This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group has just started its 14th year, my first. If you would like to find out more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, please check it out; it’s a very welcoming group!

Knit on. 🧶

Your Aran sweater is just so beautiful! I can’t imagine knitting a white sweater but I’m sure you will take great care while wearing it. Your purple and black shawl is turning out great. I love the various texture/pattern stripes. I’m so thankful I learned about Desert Vista from you. I just love her colorful striping sock yarns.

I love her yarns, too! She hosts a contest every month to give her inspiration for new colorways, and if your suggestion is selected, you get a free skein of that colorway. I’ve gotten a few skeins that way. And there are a couple other contests in her Ravelry for sharing projects knitted with her yarns, again with free yarn as prizes.

I feel a numpty but I’d never really understood before why some people wrote markitmonday. I didn’t realise it was moving your progress keepers 🙈. I really love the purple and black in the shawl. Best of luck with the launch when it comes.
