It’s September already?!? How did that happen?!? Well, at least I have some progress to show for it…
Stitched or Still-in-Progress
I have a couple finished projects to share, plus a nearly-there project and a resurrected WIP!
The mitts are done! I finished the second one on Monday. Although I’m usually a fan of loading up beads on a SuperFloss strand, the quality of the strands took a nosedive, and I found it was falling apart as I worked the first mitt. Plus, the bead sequence is specific and not really intuitive. So I placed the beads on the second mitt with a crochet hook.

And I managed to use up the whole 100g ball of cotton yarn on this set of dishcloths. I actually lost at yarn chicken on the last one, but I fudged the bind off so hopefully it’s not noticeable.

The Aran sweater is SO close to being finished! I wanted to seam it together today, but the sleeves are still damp from blocking them on Thursday night. One sleeve is particularly wet. I’m hoping to get this done tomorrow’s holiday. Then I just have to pick up stitches and knit the collar.

And last, but not least, is the Lolette shawl. The pattern and some of the supplies were a part of the Lolember series of gifts last year. The shawl is designed to be knit with an Advent yarn “calendar” made up of 24 or 25 mini skeins of yarn (20 grams each). I bought a set back in 2019 from an indie dyer friend who has since closed her shop and transitioned to making resin decorated cups/tumblers. I started the shawl in late January but got sidetracked with other projects and life. I dug out wedge 6, still in progress, and frogged it to start again. I knit the last three wedges this week, joined them all and worked the center. I have worked half of the setup on the outside of the circle, but unless I find another long cable, I won’t be able to photograph the piece flat after I complete this round.

Cast On Conversations
Since the Pigskin Party hosted by Down Cellar Studios starts on Thursday, I’m holding off on new cast-ons until Thursday. That’s another reason I want to finish the sweater!
My plans to begin on Thursday are the September DVD socks, a test knit shawl that’s due at the beginning of October, and another cable-knit sweater! I’m waiting to hear if I will also be completing another test knit this month. If I am, I’ll share that news in a few days.
I have my next podcast episode to record and post this week as well, so I’m sketching out my notes to talk about the past month. I’d best get back to that now.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, my first. If you would like to find out more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, please check it out; it’s a very welcoming group!
