Year of Projects – week 16

I’m starting this post on Sunday night, planning to post on Monday morning. I prefer to take progress pictures in natural light, and I’ve been working on a couple projects since sunset.

Stitched or Still-in-Progress

I have one finished object to share this week, plus some good progress on the other active projects.

SHaGS – pattern by Sarah Jordan, yarn: Fibernymph Dye Works Bounce in colorway No Place Like Home on US 1 (2.25mm)

Those socks earned me a lot of points in the Down Cellar Studio Pigskin party as the yardage “scored” a couple touchdowns (one for each full 100 yards) and a field goal (for the yardage above the even hundreds), and using sponsor products added to my total.

Citadel sweater – pattern by Joji Locatelli; using Blarney Woolen Mills Donegal Tweed Handknitting Wool in Moss on US 6 (4.0mm) needles

I have to pay attention to the back length now as I’m approaching the point to begin armhole shaping. This sweater uses a seamless construction, so it’s fun to watch it take shape!

2024 Square – pattern by Daisy and Storm, yarn: Lily Sugar’n Cream Solids on US 7 (4.5mm) needles

You can see the design starting to form… 😊 This will be part of a gift to the winner of the Week 8 NFL pool I’m in. Last week’s winner picked ALL the winners correctly while I tied for second place, missing only one. This week my results are lousy. Fortunately, it’s all for fun!

SHaGS – pattern by Sarah Jordan, yarn: Desert Vista Dyeworks Viso in colorway Chang’e Mei Moon Goddess on US1 (2.25mm)

Lastly, the October DVD socks are basically on schedule as I finished the first one at mid-month.

Cast-on Conversations

I have a couple new projects to share. I mentioned one last week while the other I mentioned in my last podcast episode.

Twisted Tea Shorts by Briana Luppino, yarn: Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering Speckle in the Specimen colorway, Cloudborn Fibers Merino Superwash Sock Twist in Scarlet and Shaela Heather; knit on US4 (3.5mm) and US5 (3.75mm) needles

I haven’t decided yet how to work the two main colors (scarlet & gray) yet…either true stripes or helically. I did use the gray for the drawstring, too, though the pattern calls for the contrast color there. I have plenty of yardage between two skeins of “main color” yarn (in two colors), so I might also work the leg ribbing in gray instead of the contrast as well. But I have time to decide there. I’m almost done with the hip increases after which I will add the gray.

Potter Advent Blanket by LJ Stone; yarn: Canon Hand Dyes Bruce Yak Merino Fingering in the Bridgerton Advent Calendar set of colors; on US4 (3.5mm) needles

This one is likely going to take a while, lots of fingering weight yarn… I’m working on internalizing the pattern so I don’t have to reference the knitCompanion application constantly.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, my first. If you would like to find out more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, please check it out; it’s a very welcoming group!

Wow. Lots of great projects. It would be hard for me to decide which ones to work on.

I was so impressed on your podcast with all you had accomplished! Lovely knits here as well. I just placed an order at Desert Vista (I mentioned your name as the influencer:). I can’t wait until it arrives.

Oh how wonderful! I’ve been buying her yarn for a number of years since discovering her business. I’m eager to know what colorway(s) you picked!😍

I’m a prolific knitter, indeed. It brings me so much peace. I almost always have a project with me.

You have great projects going on. The Citadel sweater would be my fave. I am a sucker for cables.

Thank you! I will have one more cable knit sweater after this, too, putting my Irish yarn purchases to use!
