This will be a short post as it’s late, and I have a very early call time tomorrow.
Travel Tales
I’m very glad for the elevator rugs keeping track of the days of the week for me. I managed to get a solid night of sleep, and the ship’s rocking motion may be helping there. Today the seas were considerably calmer, though I think we’re still sailing at a pretty fast clip. I appreciated the visual on my television as well as on a couple screens around the ship.

Tomorrow morning is my first excursion through the cruise line, and a number in our group are going: Bluff Cove Penguin Rookery and Sheep Farm. Hopefully I won’t be terribly exhausted at the end of the day, especially since I’ll be peopling a fair amount. We have an all-skate dinner in the dining room.
So, back to today. Sunday – I slept in with no alarm which was delightful. I took a quick shower and headed to the Lido Market for coffee and breakfast, and then to the Crow’s Nest for much better coffee. Then I had my appointment at the spa for my hot stone massage. That was spectacular. It’s been a year and a day since my last massage, by the way (my journal reminded me). She really helped to work out the tension in my neck (seemingly permanent resident) and also did a lot of work on my left shoulder which has been hurting since my SC trip in January. I’m seeing a lot of improvement! Yay!
I left the spa and had to book it down to class where Laura was walking us through a number of details around the main cruise design, a cowl – we picked our yarn in Buenos Aires (my choices were violet and gray). And today we got to select our beads from several options she brought with her. I got enough to make two cowls, as the MC/CC yardages should allow for two cowls if I swap the colors. I also snagged beads for the sweater I’m planning. (I’m still waiting for clearance to share photos… I’ve messaged her, so I’ll know tomorrow!)
After class, I grabbed lunch and then worked on my cowl – I had to rip out what I’d done through the class time because I had worked much too tightly. But I was able to re-work it once I’d frogged it completely. The Lido Market provided a quiet atmosphere for working, and I was on the sunny side of the ship at a window, with the rolling ocean out my peripheral vision.
Eventually I returned to the Crow’s Nest for a bit more knitting time until it was time to go to Mass. Have I mentioned that Mass and our knitting classes and social time have all been in the same room? Very different set ups though! And since it was Sunday, the room was packed – it looked there were people standing in the back and maybe even out in the hall!
After Mass I returned to the Lido Market for dinner – since I was originally planning to go to the Pinnacle Grill – but my dining time coincided with Mass, and there were no other reasonable times available, so I rescheduled for Wednesday. And instead I was back up at the Lido Market and thoroughly enjoyed my selections!!

I hung out at the Billboard Onboard lounge for the first set of the piano players, Alfredo & Ellie, as it was all-request night. They played all my choices, so when they wrapped that set, I headed over to knit night. The lighting in the lounge was not conducive to beading (hint, hint).
I’ve laid out all my clothes now for tomorrow, as the weather forecast is cold and rainy. I have plenty of layers to work with. And I have my camera collection. I’m not sure if my DSLR will be put into service, as it will depend on how much it’s raining when we get there. But now it’s time to wind down to sleep so I can grab coffee and breakfast before our 7:15AM call time!
Knit on. 🧶
