While my sweater progress stalled big-time in September, I’ve managed to step up my efforts in October to get back on track. It would be very cool to have this piece done in time to wear for Christmas, but I’m not going to get too excited just yet.
The very nice thing about this project is that my daily stitch count target is so reasonable! I’m used to having to complete a thousand stitches a day, but for this project my goal is about half that. And once I get to the body – the largest number of stitches to complete a cycle (round or row) is about half the goal. Given the variety of cable patterns in this design, it’s easy-peasy to manage four cycles with only one involving cable crosses. And once I got into the rhythm of the sequence on the back, it’s only gotten easier.

I’m now eight days ahead of my finishing date target, and I’ve been gaining another day every two days or so. Let’s hope I can keep up the momentum! This week I finished the upper back panel, knit the left and right fronts and then joined to finish the neckline and continue on the front panel. And yes, I’ve used Stitch Saver to hold stitches for the collar, though I haven’t counted them yet. My next milestone will be getting to join the front and back in the round, and I should be able to get that done well before my target date later this month. Oh, how I love surpassing goals!
Knit on. 🧶
