I still don’t understand how it’s the end of August already! Time has clearly sped up, lol. At least I have some knitting progress to show for it since I’ve spent a lot of time working on my projects. I even have a finished object to share, thanks to an addictive pattern. So let’s jump in…
Stitched or Still-in-Progress
I completed my Camp Loopy project for August this weekend, and I was able to block it in one day thanks to the summer heat. My goal this month was 800+ yards, and I ended up using 957 yards. There’s a fair amount of the colorful yarn, so keep an eye out for its appearance in another project soon.

I’m eager to finish up the Aran sweater ahead of the Pigskin Party in September, and I’m still on track to make the deadline. The sleeves are just over half complete, and the overall knitting is 80% done based on my revised estimate of the total sleeve length. The first two skeins of yarn are nearly spent, and today I caked up the next two skeins. Unless my estimate is off, I’ll have a couple skeins left from the package I bought. That means a hat and maybe mittens to go with the sweater! I’ll have some time to mull over the design, as I could pull some of the stitch patterns from the sweater.

And the last WIP I’ve shared that saw some attention this week was the beaded mitts. The first one, if you recall, I restarted after the ribbing got messed up at the movie theater. The first one is finished, and I cast on its mate. I will probably work on this some more tonight, but I like to grab progress photos in natural light.

Cast On Conversations
With no socks-in-progress this week, I needed another small project to work on that didn’t need attention (and chart reference). One of the Ravelry groups I’m in hosts a weekly challenge during the NFL season. Each participant commits to knit a dishcloth (usually cotton) to send to a winner, so I’m gearing up by making smaller ones. The pattern I’m working with has three different designs. I’ve knit the first design this week and cast on the next. Again, I may work on it more tonight before setting my #MarkItMonday marker.

The Pigskin Party hosted by Down Cellar Studio kicks off with the NFL season on September 5th. I’ll be casting on a couple projects that day, including a test knit shawl pattern and my September DVD socks. Because the challenge rewards bonus points for using sponsor patterns, yarns and notions, I’m building my strategy to maximize said points! More on that to come!
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, my first. If you would like to find out more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, please check it out; it’s a very welcoming group!
