Hello February! I’ve heard lots of people saying that January felt like it was 900+ days long. I don’t agree with that sentiment, but because I had a lot going on in the month, it didn’t feel as speedy as the end of 2024. As I’m evaluating my blog content, I will be changing things up a bit going forward, just to give you a heads up. 😄 Today it’s all about knitting, though I don’t have much to share.
Stitched or Still-in-Progress
I do have a finished object to share! It’s been a while since I could say that. The socks I had started back in late October saw enough attention to be completed. I did lose at yarn chicken, though, as my contrast yarn ran out before I completed the bind-off. I adapted, though, using a technique that I learned from the Yarn Harlot. Once I had bound off to the point where I only had enough working yarn to weave in as a tail, I shifted to the end of the round and just lifted each stitch up and over its neighbor to bind it off (similar to what you do for a traditional bind off, but without using any yarn and also working backwards.
I tried to find Stephanie’s blog post about the technique and how she used it on a shawl, but I didn’t have any luck. Fortunately, the technique has been around for a while, so I found this YouTube video to demonstrate it. Anyway, now I need to wind up another skein of yarn so I have a SIP (Sock In Progress) for my next movie-going experience.

And the only other project I worked on at all was the fingering weight blanket. I’d hoped to at least finish the second row, but my knitting mojo has been hibernating a bit these days. With the plans I have for this month (to be outlined later), I should be able to make progress on my other WIPs. Wish me luck!

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, my first. If you would like to find out more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, please check it out; it’s a very welcoming group!
